Come and take part in a team event with a difference! Held in the stunning Adelaide Hills, Trailblazer gives you the chance to test your limits while raising funds for very worthy South Australian charities.

18km, 34km, 50km* and 100km events

With a variety of distances available, there is an event suitable for all fitness and age levels.  The first 18km follows the Linear Trail from Pinky Flat in the city, along the Torrens River to Black Hill Conservation Park at Athelstone.  This section is fully paved and accessible to wheelchairs and dogs.

A front & back 50km will again be offered in 2010.  The front 50km will start at Pinky Flat opposite the Convention Centre (along with 18, 34 and 100km events), and head up with Mt Lofty Summit.  While the back 50km event will begin at 7pm at Mt Lofty Summit and head down to Kuitpo Forest Information Centre.

Teams of 2, 3 and 4

All events are open to teams of two, three and four.  Remember to recruit team mates with similar event goals, as you are required to move along the trail and check in and out of each checkpoint together.  Stick together – the satisfaction of completing the event as a team will be all the more rewarding.

Fundraising

As well as been a brilliant physical test, the real challenge is fundraising.  On registering your team, each team member will receive a sponsorship book to be used to raise money for very worthy South Australian Charities.

Online fundraising is also available via the Everyday Hero site.  If you want to get started early, you are welcome to create a team or individual page online before registering.  This is a quick and effective way to reach family, friends, colleagues locally, interstate and overseas.  Check it out!

The Trail

The Trailblazer trail generally follows the Linear, Yurebilla and Heysen Trails from Pinky Flat to Kuitpo Forest Information Centre (100km).  Maps and directions are available online and you will also receive a hard copy when you register.

There are seven checkpoints along the full length of the trail and it is here that your team will be required to check in and through (together remember).  These sites are spread10-18km apart and allow teams to rest, revive and meet up with support crews.  Checkpoints also provide participants with basic food, hydration and first aid supplies.

Support Crews

It is essential (34, 50 and 100km teams) to get together a groups of mates to act as your support crew. They will meet you along the trail and/or at the checkpoints and supply you with your key nutritional needs as well as handing over those spare socks, warm clothes and the occasional bucket of lollies to you going.

A good support team will make a big difference to your event weekend -  so choose wisely.  Make sure they are well prepared... and very enthusiastic!
