To ensure the safety of all participants and volunteers throughout the event, the following event rules MUST followed:

1. All team members must be aged 18 years or above in the 100 km event.
2. All team members must be aged 16 years or above in the 50 km event (a responsible adult/s must participate with the under aged team at all times, if the adult/s becomes injured and cannot continue in the event, the rest of the under aged team will have to withdraw).
3. All team members must be aged 14 years or above in the 34 km event (a responsible adult/s must participate with the under aged team at all times, if the adult/s becomes injured and cannot continue in the event, the rest of the under aged team will have to withdraw). 
4. Younger children may participate as a family member in the 18km event.
5. It is desirable that at least one team member of each registered team must attend one of the formal briefing sessions (adult member).
6. At the start of the event, each team must have all their team members.
7. Teams must sign in at the marquee that represents their km event at the start between 5:30am and 6.30am on Saturday 6th October. Please arrive on time to avoid delays. Sign in times for the back 50km event starting at Mt Lofty are between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Saturday 6th October.
8. You must present your team medical form at time of signing in on Saturday 6th of October before you sign in. If you do not have your team medical form handed in on the day you will not be able to participate in the event. Only 1 team member is required to sign in on the teams behalf.
9. Each individual must have there specific assigned bib number pinned onto them at all times. Under no circumstances can participants change or switch bibs, as they are strictly allocated to each individual.
10. There are eight checkpoints along the section of the trail in which Trailblazer takes place, including the finish point. All team members must stay together between checkpoints, and must check in and through together at each checkpoint. You may not leave a checkpoint until all members have checked in and been accounted for. Checkpoint staff will not check in incomplete teams with members unaccounted for.
11. Any member who is injured or exhausted must be brought to the nearest checkpoint by team-mates for assistance if possible.
12. Under no circumstances are individuals to be left unattended. If a team member becomes seriously injured and cannot be moved, one person must stay with him or her while the other seeks help.
Note : If team of two - If a team member becomes seriously injured and cannot be moved, the other person must stay with him/her at all times (the emergency centre should be contacted by mobile phone). The team of two should wait for other teams to pass by to seek further help.
13. If you want to withdraw during the event, you must first report to the nearest checkpoint. Remaining team members cannot continue until retiring members have been reported. If for any reason you have to leave the event urgently, you must call the Trailblazer emergency number (on bib), as soon as possible.
14. In order to withdraw you must complete a withdrawal certificate at a checkpoint.
15. Teams of two – If a team member of a team has withdrawn, the continuing team member will not be allowed to move on until he/she has joined up with another team at a checkpoint (other teams have the right to refuse the offer).
16. If for any reason you stay between two checkpoints for an extended period, you must call the Emergency phone number (printed on bibs) to inform the command centre, otherwise you will be considered missing and emergency procedures will be activated.
17. If you haven’t reached a checkpoint by the nominated closing time, your team is withdrawn from the event and you continue at your own risk. The closing times are calculated on the basis that there would be sufficient time remaining to complete the event within the specified 40 hours.
18. Registrations close on Monday the 17th of September 2012. Teams must notify the organiser of any change of team members by Wednesday 26th September, 5:00pm, at the absolute latest. No substitutions will be allowed once the event is in progress.
19. Identification bibs MUST be worn at all times.
20. Only complete teams finishing within the following time limits will be eligible for honors:
a) 18km 6 hours
b) 34km 10 hours
c) 50km 17 hours
d) 100km 40 hours
21. Every team must have a support team. The support team is responsible for providing teams with food, change of clothes, etc during the event. It is unrealistic to carry all supplies yourself. Please make sure your support team reads the Support Team Information Section.
22. Teams are responsible for the behavior of their support team. Any support team or participant found to be breaching any checkpoint landowner’s regulations may lead to team’s disqualification from the event.
23. Teams must carry mobile phones on two different providers (ie. telstra & optus).
24. All teams should carry at least one first aid kit.
25. Do not smoke or drop litter, the Trailblazer Challenge is an environmentally friendly event. There are litter bins at each checkpoint – use them. Please respect the environment.
26 If the trail gets congested, particularly in the early stages of the event, please give way to teams moving more quickly.
